Maribyrnong residents are encouraged to dig deep through their clothes drawers to provide warmth to families in need this winter.

As part of the sixth annual Winter Coat Drive, Braybrook and Footscray library will have coat racks on display throughout June and July, with all items available for collection.

People can donate their coats, jackets, scarves or beanies at the Braybrook, Footscray, Yarraville, Maribyrnong and West Footscray libraries during opening hours.

Maribyrnong mayor said warm garments can be left with library staff at any of the Maribyrnong Libraries branches.

“It’s great to see our community coming together to support each other, especially as we head into winter,” he said.

“I encourage you all to dig into your wardrobes and pull out the winter woolies that have already served you well and give them a new life with someone in need.”
