Seniors invited to have their say

The Victorian Government is inviting seniors in Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay to share their thoughts on government services, in what is the biggest project of its kind seeking to examine seniors’ experiences across the community.

Launched on July 19, the Ageing Well Survey includes questions on wellbeing, ageism, digital inclusion, social connectedness, health and self-care, pandemic related experiences, as well as providing input on support needed to better reconnect with their communities.

The survey will assist Disability, Ageing and Carers Minister Colin Brooks to better advocate for seniors in Victoria as part of the Ageing Well Action Plan (2022-2026).

“Seniors are an important and growing part of our community and this survey will ensure their voices are heard as we work to improve life for all older Victorians,” he said.

A previous 2020 report found eight particular themes to provide the best opportunity for senior Australians to age well, including respect, financial and personal security, health autonomy and mobility, and priority areas for action.

The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete and is for residents aged 60 and over and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over.

Submissions close on Sunday, 7 August.
