Grieve Parade exit ramp set to close

The Grieve Parade outbound exit ramp from the West Gate Freeway will be closed from 9pm on Friday, July 29 and reopen at 5am on Monday, August 15, as part of ongoing West Gate Tunnel Project works.

The closure will allow crews to complete pavement reconstruction, barrier installation and noise wall and drainage works.

Detours will be in place and motorists should allow extra travel time.

West Gate Tunnel Project acting chief executive Peter Lellyett said the crews were grateful for road users following speed reductions and detours.

“We’d like to thank drivers for their patience so far and ask that they take extra care as this vital work continues.”

Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan said the project would cut down travel times and divert thousands of trucks off local streets in the inner-west of Melbourne.

“The West Gate Tunnel will change the way we get around Melbourne,” she said.

“We’re making terrific progress with our freeway widening works, which will make journeys safer and smoother, and reduce congestion.”

Tunnelling is progressing well, with both tunnel boring machines Bella and Vida powering ahead on their journeys from Yarraville as they head south-west towards the West Gate Freeway.
