A new online platform to help quicken the process for approvals and assessments in Victorian childhood services has been launched by the state government.
Regulatory Reform minister Danny Pearson and Early Childhood and Pre-Prep minister Ingrid Stitt announced the new online tool has been introduced to replace the old paper-based test, in an effort to save early childhood education and care services, including those in Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, time and hassle.
The online form will save new applicants seeking to operate a service up to four hours on their assessment test will no longer require them to travel to an office to sit the test.
A second regulation reform project will make elements of the assessment and rating process digital for early childhood services, including reporting and submitting a Quality Improvement Plan.
When implemented, these changes are anticipated to save more than 13,000 days of staff time across the sector each year.
“Cutting paperwork and taking processes online saves time and money – and that’s a win for everyone,” Regulatory Reform minister Danny Pearson said.
“In this case it means new childcare centres can open and serve their communities sooner, and ongoing administration can be streamlined.”
