More students living in Melbourne’s north-west will be able to catch a school bus next year, with the state government announcing new school bus services.
Public Transport Minister Ben Carroll said the services focus on growth areas.
A four-year program, the additional services will initially target recently opened schools in growth areas where student demand is high and school bus services can be introduced, expanded or rerouted to take in these locations, he said.
Four services in Melbourne’s north-west will be among the first 14 new school bus routes to begin next year. They are:
– Riverwalk Estate to Werribee Secondary College;
– Rockbank via Aintree to Springside West Secondary College;
– Donnybrook via Kalkallo, Mickleham and Craigieburn to Mount Ridley College; and
– Wollert to Wollert Secondary College.
“We’re giving Victorians parents and students better access to school bus services in the regional and metropolitan growth areas where there is high demand, and they are needed most,” Mr Carroll said.
