Youth Congress applications open

Young Victorians are encouraged to have their say on the issues that matter most to them.

On Monday, October 18, Youth Minister Ros Spence opened applications for the 2023 Victorian Youth Congress, with the opportunity to join existing members continuing for a second term in the program.

The Victorian Youth Congress is an advisory body of young Victorians aged between 12 and 25.

The congress provides advice to inform and shape Victorian government policy and programs for young people.

Members of the Victorian Youth Congress have played a pivotal role in the development of Victoria’s Youth Strategy Our Promise, Your Future.

Successful new applicants will help to drive the implementation of the five-year plan.

Launched in August, the Victorian Youth Strategy aims to improve the health, wellbeing and future of all young Victorians and to ensure young people’s voices are at the centre of decision making across government.

“It is such an exciting time to join Victorian Youth Congress, with the opportunity to shape the implementation of Victoria’s Youth Strategy,” Ms Spence said.

“The Victorian Youth Congress gives young Victorians a meaningful opportunity to work together, share their unique insights and lived experiences and help create a better Victoria for all.”

Previous experience is not required and young and diverse Victorians from rural, regional and metropolitan areas are encouraged to apply to join the congress.

Applications close on Friday, November 11.
