New seat of Laverton hotly contested

The new seat of Laverton will be contested by 10 candidates.

The seat takes in Laverton, Brooklyn, Tottenham and Braybrook and was created following the 2020-21 redistribution of state electoral boundaries.

The electorate is made up of 2390 voters from the former Altona electorate and 20,693 voters from the Footscray electorate.

The candidates are: Gurneet Soni (New Democrats), Braishna Durzada (Greens), David Fry (Family First Victoria), Rufo Paredes (independent), Michael Wirth (Labour DLP), Catherine Robertson (Victorian Socialists), Trent Raymond (Freedom Party of Victoria), Pouya Bagheri (Animal Justice Party), Sarah Connolly (Labor, currently Tarneit MP), and Raja Reddy (Liberal).
