Williamstown’s young lifesavers donned their rash guards and swimming caps to officially launch their Nippers and Starfish Nippers program earlier this month.

Williamstown Swimming and Lifesaving Club vice president Leonie Newey said members of the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation performed a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony as part of the launch event.

“The beach was full of colour with nearly 350 nippers sporting their new rashies proudly sponsored by Gunn and Co Real Estate, Orbit Logistics and Jim’s Storage,” she said.

“It was a great morning and everyone was relieved that the weather was favourable.”
