Footscray Wharf became a little bit more jolly as the calendar turned over to December, with a visit from Santa Claus himself.

The Blackbird ferry delivered the man of the hour to Footscray Wharf on Thursday, December 1, armed with treats and ready to pose for photos.

The Braybrook Community Hub is hosting a special family Christmas picnic on Friday, December 9, where Santa Claus will also make an appearance.

There will also be a free sausage sizzle and coffee cart, activities hosted by the Western Bulldogs and children’s entertainment, including a visit from Manny the Magician.

Maribyrnong mayor Sarah Carter said Christmas is a special time for the community to celebrate each other and their achievements over the past year.

“As summer approaches, our festival city shines with a jam-packed calendar of activities that bring to life the spirit of the festive season,” she said.

Children under the age of 10 are also invited to enter the council’s augmented reality Christmas colouring competition Santa and Sirens, which will run until Wednesday, December 7.

A winners from each suburb will receive a visit from Santa in a vintage fire truck.
