Yarraville Seddon has added a second former AFL player to its list for next year’s Western Region Football League division 1 season.

Having signed former Geelong premiership player Travis Varcoe, the Eagles announced on Wednesday that Jared Polec was also on board for 2023.

Polec played 148 games with the Brisbane Lions, Port Adelaide and North Melbourne. He was delisted at the end of the 2022 season with a foot injury that restricted him to two games this year.

“The Yarraville-Seddon Eagles are thrilled to announce the arrival of Jared Polec to the nest,” the club said on social media.

“The former number five draft pick, who has played 148 games of AFL, will be a playing assistant for the Eagles in 2023.

“We are looking forward to the experience and professionalism Jared will bring to our playing group.”

The Eagles finished in eighth this year with four wins.

Meanwhile the league has revealed its structure for its men’s competitions next season.

With the departure of division 1 clubs, St Albans and Deer Park, the division 1 competition is down to eight teams.

Point Cook Centrals have been promoted into division 1, while the Sunshine Kangaroos will play in division 2.

Joining the Kangaroos in division 2 is Braybrook that won the division 3 premiership this year, with it to be an eight team competition.

West Footscray will play in division 3 as part of a seven team competition.
