Maribyrnong’s young swimming stars are encouraged to enrol early in a summer swimming program at the Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC).

VICSWIM’s government-subsidised program Summer Kidz costs $35 per week and will run during the first three weeks of January 2023.

The program gives primary-school-aged children the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of swimming and water safety in a fun and friendly environment.

Maribyrnong mayor Sarah Carter said swimming is a vital skill for children to learn.

“The Summer Kidz program provides a wonderful opportunity for them to improve their swimming skills and learn about water safety, while minimising the financial strain on parents,” she said.

MAC currently runs over 650 swimming, diving and water safety classes per week for approximately 2,500 students across all age groups, taught by experienced instructors, many of whom are fluent in two or more languages.
