Giving back to flood-affected residents

Not-for-profit donation platform GIVIT has launched GIVIT gifting just in time for Christmas, solving last minute shopping dilemmas in a few clicks.

Shoppers can simply visit, select an amount they would like to donate to GIVIT in lieu of a gift, write a special message and the gift will be sent by email.

GIVIT chief executive Sarah Tennant said every dollar donated to GIVIT delivers $12 in benefits to the community, according to a 2022 report commissioned by The Centre for International Economics.

“It’s been a tough year for so many people, with catastrophic flooding across parts of the country and the rising cost of living meaning many people are at breaking point,” she said.

“GIVIT has already supplied more than 600,000 essential items to people impacted by floods this year, and assisted thousands of vulnerable people across Australia with the goods and services they urgently need.

“We know that giving back is good for your mental health, so our message to people who have left their Christmas shopping to the last minute is jump onto the GIVIT website and give someone a gift that will help us continue our important work assisting people in need.”
