Homages to artistic greats such as Vincent van Gogh and Wassily Kandinsky and depictions of the effects of time on Australian landscapes will be on show at Altona’s Louis Joel Gallery, as part of a new joint exhibition.

Local artists and friends Dovey Dee and Amanda Neville are presenting their exhibition ‘Paint & Pastel’ from Saturday, January 21 to Thursday, February 2.

Originally from the United States, Ms Dee uses oil paint to capture the light and landscape contours of Australian landscapes.

“There is a brightness to the sunlight and earth colours that are found nowhere else,” she said.

Ms Neville said her featured works are oil pastel homages to famous artists across time.

Ms Dee is also hosting a landscape development workshop on Tuesday, January 24 from 6.30pm to 8pm, while Ms Neville is hosting a pastel homage workshop on Friday, January 27.

‘Paint & Pastel’ is launching at the Louis Joel Gallery on Friday, January 20 from 6.30pm.
