Attempted citizen’s arrest following Yarraville aggravated burglary

A Yarraville resident attempted to make a citizen’s arrest following an aggravated burglary in the early hours of Tuesday, January 17.

Police said the resident’s Mill Avenue home was broken into shortly after midnight, and a handbag stolen.

According to police, the offender fled the scene before being found and detained by the resident.

He escaped the resident’s hold and fled along Wembley Avenue, police said.

A 17-year-old Yarraville boy was arrested by police at a nearby address and is assisting with their inquiries.
