Footscray and Maribyrnong’s aspiring film-makers are encouraged to submit a last-minute application to bring their dream film to reality, as part of a residency with Footscray’s Cinespace.
Applications for the latest round of the non-profit arts organisation’s Productions-in-Residence [PIR] program is open until Monday, January 30.
Cinespace arts administrator Pranati Visweswaran said the program supports four three-month residencies per year.
“Our Production in Residence program offers independent projects with a focus on multicultural stories support in their production endeavours, including an exclusive three month access to a workspace, video production equipment & post-production facilities, and support from some industry professionals,” she said.
“The aim is to support screen projects that feature on and behind the scenes multicultural diversity.
“We want to extend support to emerging and independent productions with bold stories and diverse outlooks, and promote intercultural diversity through Victoria’s vibrant screen culture.”
With support from the state government, the Victorian College of the Arts at the University of Melbourne, Blackmagic Design, and PostLab.io, the program’s past projects include Jauthar Abdulalim’s web series Salma’s Season, Natalia Bornay and Emily Davis’ Lady Priest and Pairing, which is currently in production.
The next residency will run from March to May.
Any type of narrative screen production (scripted or unscripted) can be supported, including a short film, a documentary, a standalone web-series or proof of concepts.
