Summer is heating up and Yarraville is about to be too! For the next three months a bucket load of family friendly activities will be taking place across the much loved suburb with ‘Yarraville Sounds’.
Organised by the Yarraville Traders Association, mid week events like public Tai Chi and live music will be popping up throughout the 3013 postcode for locals and visitors alike to come along.
Yarraville Traders association president Chris Byrne and committee have been hard at work organising the next few months and are beyond excited to see their idea finally come to fruition, and see Yarraville’s streets bustling during the week.
Yarraville Traders Administration and events manager Carla Smith said “We’re booming at night but we really want to try and support the day time traders and the community, so it’s perfect for people working from home, parents who are slightly housebound and retirees in the area.”
With incredible cafes lining the streets, bespoke retail stores, an iconic cinema and a tonne of alfresco style seating, Yarraville is the perfect place to spend the day and it’s a breeze to get to.
The Yarraville train station is right on the town centre’s doorstep, there’s plenty of parking and even bike paths in nearly every direction for those who prefer to ride.
“It’s just gorgeous, and it’s so close to the city,” Ms Smith said.
“We’ve got great walking areas, beautiful parks and great people that supply just about anything to the public.”
Every week there’ll be a local band set up in the Pop Up Park or Alfa Garden Area with the help of Kindred Studios and this will be peppered with free Tai Chi lessons from Dion at Iwi Acupuncture.
If you’re still looking for more fun, you’ll find a petting zoo in Fels Park on Tuesday, March 14 from 1.00pm to 2.00pm.
There’s plenty to love about Yarraville and now even more reason to visit during the day time.
