The Footscray Rowing Club will be the place to be for music lovers on Sundays soon as part of a free pop-up live music program.

The Deck Out West live music series will be running each Sunday from 2pm to 7pm from Sunday, February 12 to Sunday, March 19.

A Footscray University Town initiative, developed through a collaboration between Maribyrnong council and Victoria University (VU) and produced by creative agency The Background, the events will also include visits from local food trucks as patrons enjoy the live music and views across the Maribyrnong River to Melbourne’s CBD.

Acts will include Australian singer-songwriter and former lead vocalists of The Jezabels Hayley Mary, country artist Andy Golledge and brass band Horns and Leroy.

Maribyrnong mayor Sarah Carter said the council is excited to be involved in the initiative.

“We are thrilled to be presenting this pop-up live music program in collaboration with Victoria University,” she said.

“It will showcase the best of our city – talented musicians, delicious food, and the beautiful Maribyrnong River.

“Sunday evenings are meant for relaxing, so kick back at The Deck Out West and enjoy these live performances.”

The lineup will also include artists from VU’s Music Agency, with the initiative also providing VU students with professional development opportunities in event management internships and paid event roles for hospitality students.

The VU Music Agency represents a diverse range of contemporary music acts, coming from Victoria University’s music courses, with musical acts ranging from a jazz ensemble to a wedding or party band.
