A Braybrook man has been charged with firearm and drug trafficking offences, as part of a police operation to deter illicit firearms use.
Police conducted a series of Firearm Prohibition Order compliance searches in Altona Meadows, Braybrook, Hoppers Crossing, Kingsville, Newport, Maribyrnong, Seddon, Truganina, Point Cook, Werribee and Williamstown on Wednesday, February 15.
Police said a number of items were seized during the searches, including two sawn-off shotguns, quantities of drugs including methylamphetamine, cocaine and cannabis plants, and allegedly stolen registration plates
The 32-year-old Braybrook man has been charged with possessing a firearm in contravention of a Firearm Prohibition Order, prohibited person possessing a firearm, possessing ammunition without a licence, trafficking methylamphetamine, drug possession, handling stolen goods and dealing in the proceeds of crime.
He faced Sunshine Magistrates Court yesterday and was bailed to appear at court on May 10.
