Police have arrested a Maidstone man following a pursuit in Werribee on Thursday night.
While patrolling Synnot Street at about 9pm, police say they noticed a car being driven erratically.
Officers followed the car and observed it drive onto the wrong side of the road and collide with a passing vehicle before continuing on and heading for Derrimut Road.
Once on Derrimut Road, police allege the car continued to be driven erratically on the wrong side of the road.
Police attempted to intercept the car and a pursuit was initiated for safety reasons.
The car drove into a shopping centre carpark on Derrimut Road and collided with two parked cars before the driver attempted to drive out of the carpark and crashed into a Dog Squad vehicle.
The driver attempted to fleee on foot but was apprehended by police.
A 35-year-old Maidstone man was taken to hospital under police guard while a police dog was treated by a vet after suffering facial and leg injuries in the collision.
