Police investigate Newport hit-and-run on 15-year-old girl

The car has been described as possibly being a small dark-coloured hatchback.

Police are investigating an incident in Newport, which has left a 15-year-old autistic girl with serious injuries.

Police have been told the 15-year-old girl was walking along Blackshaws Road about 11.30pm on Friday, January 20, when she lay down on the road and was struck by a vehicle travelling along Blackshaws Road.

She was taken to hospital and has undergone a number of surgeries for fractured bones.

The vehicle continued and did not stop, the driver possibly unaware they had struck someone, police said.

The car has been described as possibly being a small dark-coloured hatchback.
