The Williamstown Little Athletics Centre (WLAC) has raised more than $2000 towards the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.

On Saturday, March 4, athletes and their families came together to raise funds for the appeal, with the centre donating $1 for every personal best achieved, encouraging families to match the donation.

WLAC president Peter Parks said the day created a “real sense of team spirit” within the athletes and their families.

“We couldn’t be more proud of the athletes and their families for their hard work and generosity,” he said.

“Some families went above and beyond in their contributions, meaning we doubled our initial target of $1000.”

The club has raised $2049 for the appeal at the time of publication.

The fundraiser coincided with one of the centre’s personal best days, where athletes who achieve a personal best result have an opportunity to strike the club gong.

The centre printed out large posters to support the fundraising drive, with athletes placing stickers to mark their personal bests.
