Young and curious Altona residents are invited to get up close and personal with some creepy crawlies, as part of the launch of Altona Library’s Council+ services.
On Tuesday, April 18 between 10am and 2pm, Altona Library will host a bug day where visitors can meet and learn about a range of spiders and insects that live above and below the ground, as well as enjoy a range of other activities including face painting, story time, a scavenger hunt with prizes to be won and free food and coffee.
Altona Library will join Laverton Community Hub, Seabrook Community Centre, Altona North Community Library, Hobsons Bay Civic Centre and the Williamstown and Altona Meadows libraries in becoming a Council+ site.
Residents will be able to do all their council-related business, including applying for permits, paying rates and upsizing their bins, while still enjoying the traditional services and expertise from their local library.
Hobsons Bay mayor Tony Briffa said the event will be a fun day for visitors of all ages.
“It’s fantastic to see the much-loved Altona Library becoming the latest Council+ site, giving residents another local place to do their council business,” she said.
“Kids love exploring the world of bugs so this will be a fascinating day to learn more about them and see them up close.”
