Erin Adams from Smell Art, is hosting a Sniff and Learn workshop on Sunday, June 18, for a fast and fun exploration into the world of smell.

The two hour workshop will be held at the Handmakers Factory at 579 Barkly Street, West Footscray, for a cost of $45.

Ms Adams said the workshop will consist of an afternoon tea party , mixed in scent games and a little bit of science.

“We will be getting together and discussing how people’s sense of smell works and we will also learn how the flavour component of smell plays a huge part in our taste,” she said.

The workshop will consist of games designed to educate people to the art of smell, which Ms Adams said will be short and fun.

“The games will be quite interactive so everyone can learn through participating,” she said.

“One of the games will be a blindfold taste test where participants will have to try and work out what they are eating without seeing,” she said.

The workshop is mainly targeted towards adults, but kids high school aged who have an interest in science are welcome.

Ms Adams started Smell Art because of her growing interest in people’s sense of smell and the science behind it.

In the past, Ms Adams has created live scents for music events and gallery installations designed to engage the audience.

“I realised there are no workshops for anything of this sort in Melbourne so that’s why I thought I would run some workshops,to create a community and education around smell,” she said.
