The Newport Folk Festival is getting close

The Newport Folk Festival is returning for another year of performances and music on Friday, June 23.

The Newport Folk Festival is returning for another year of performances and music.

The festival will be held at several venues across Hobsons Bay, beginning on Friday, June 23, for the opening night festival.

The festivities will then continue for a full day of entertainment on Saturday, June 24.

The venues include the Newport Bowls Club, The Substation, Newport Scout Hall, The Hub and Newport RSL.

Getting to all venues will be easy with trains will running to Newport along the Werribee and Williamstown lines as well as active bus routes.

There will also be bike parking racks and parking available off Derwent Street.

The festival will include a range of performances from a wide range of folk groups, including all-female group The Angelicats, Winners at the 2022 Australian Folk Music Awards, Austral, and family band The Burning Bridges.

Festival runners ask that anyone interested in helping out across the two days, inquire and volunteer to help keep the festival running.

Volunteer roster slots run for three to four hours duration and jobs range from Ticket sales, MCs, stage managers, first aid and co-ordinator roles, all volunteers receive a free festival wristband.

Tickets are available for purchase online, online bookings close Thursday, June 22 at 5pm.
