Shop fire in Maidstone

Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to a shop fire in Mitchell Street, Maidstone, on Monday, June 26, following multiple calls to triple-0.

Emergency services were called at 7.40 pm, crews arrived on the scene within seven minutes to find thick black smoke issuing from the roof of a single storey, 30m x 30m brick, unoccupied supermarket.

Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters executed aggressive internal attack, bringing the incident under control within 70 minutes, containing the fire to the affected building.

There were no occupants on scene at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria were on scene to support firefighting activities.

Firefighters will remain on scene for some time, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

The fire has been deemed suspicious.
