For a few days only , families will be granted free entry to play centre Funtopia in Maribyrnong, as part of a new incentive to help families in crisis.

Funtopia has partnered with charities Mums Supporting Families in Need (MSIN) and Big Group Hug, to provide much needed aid to children and families in need.

From September 4-8, all three Funtopia Victorian venues in Maribyrnong, Carrum Downs and Cranbourne, are encouraging their communities to head down to their local centre and donate a tangible good, in exchange for free entry.

Funtopia Australia operations manager Wayne Kong-Gardiner said donatable items include toys, books, clothes, footwear, nappies, and baby essentials.

Mr Kong-Gardiner said the incentive behind this initiative is to have a good time and put donated items to a good home, while partnering with charities.

“There are no other benefits apart from that it’s a feel good factor for us and for the staff.

“Choosing MSFIN and Big Group Hug was an obvious choice because they’re very family orientated charities.”

Mums Supporting Families in Need (MSFIN) and Big Group hug both provide immediate material aid to families and children in need.

With the most commonly requested items being toiletries packs, toys, books, clothing, food, nappies, sanitary items, wipes and formula.

MSFIN treasurer Carly Moulang, said this is a difficult time for people to give financial donations which is an issue most charities are facing.

“Our work with Funtopia is amazing because they are going to bring awareness to our charity and what we’re doing for the community,” she said.

“While also supporting us in getting physical donations which will get redistributed to families in crisis.”

Funtopia said this partnership aims to help over 10,000 families in need.
