A welcoming atmosphere, live music, great service and a delicious menu prove a winning formula at the Williamstown RSL.

At this community club, locals enjoy casual nights out, catching up with friends and family dinners.

“The establishment was set up primarily for the welfare of returned service persons and their immediate dependents, however now the club’s ties to the community run much deeper and we offer something for everyone,” says operations manager David O’Meara.

David keeps his passion for hospitality fresh through constant evolution within the industry and local markets, and seeking new challenges in varying economies.

“Trying to break the mindset that we are a ‘members only’ club can be quite a challenge,” he says.

Facilities include a restaurant, bar, two function rooms, outdoor beer garden and the club can cater to any type of meeting, function or community event.

A free courtesy bus runs within Hobsons Bay and Yarraville on Friday and Saturday evenings which patrons are welcome to book.

Two new-look function rooms are perfect venues for conferences, private functions or Christmas parties and the bistro serves traditional favourites such as chicken parma and steaks but also plenty of new and unique dishes.

Sub-clubs that also call Williamstown RSL home include the Legacy Ladies, Ladies Probus, many local junior and senior sports clubs, and primary and secondary schools.

The Timeball Day Club which runs on Wednesdays, is always welcoming new members.

At the club’s gatherings, retirees can come in for a social morning to meet and make new friends and take part in some light exercise, puzzles, day trips and forms of entertainment and relaxation.

While the club is already planning for next year’s ANZAC Centenary marking the 100 years since the landing at Gallipoli, members of the local community are being invited to come in for Remembrance Day on November 11 to celebrate Australia’s returned service people.

Williamstown RSL, 128 Ferguson Street, Williamstown. Opens 10am-11pm Monday-Wednesday, 10am-noon Thursday-Friday, 10am-1am Saturday
and 10am-10pm Sunday.
