The Maribyrnong councils Girls Can program is an inclusive program which welcomes all who identify as women from all cultural backgrounds and abilities to get active.

Active Maribyrnong has partnered with VicHealth to celebrate the This Girl Can campaign across Maribyrnong from Monday, October 9 until Sunday, October 15.

Council said the campaign aims to empower and inspire women of all ages and fitness levels to get active and participate in health and wellbeing programs.

Everyone is encouraged to join one of the free Maribyrnong Girls Can active and wellbeing programs.

These programs feature activities like Roller Derby, Kanga Training and Bollywood Dancing.

As well as Yoga, HIIT Class and Pilates.

Council said its Spring into Summer Series will also return this year from Monday, October 30 until December 3.

Open to everyone, the free five-week series covers all levels of fitness and age groups.

Council said it is designed to not only encourage residents to get outdoors in local open spaces, but also showcase a range of the facilities and activities on offer across the city.

Registrations open Monday, October 16, for the Spring into Summer series.

Mayor Sarah Carter said, “As we activate Maribyrnong and bring back our much-loved Spring into Summer Series, we are also pleased to be a part of the new This Girl Can campaign which comes to our city for the first time this October.

“Collectively, these programs will enable all of us to add some extra movement into our day with a diverse range of activities on offer.”
