The Victorian Turf Cricket Association kicked off over the weekend with the first day of the two day clashes taking place.

In the senior division Yarraville Club was sent in to bat by Sunshine United and got off to a shaky start.

The Clubbers found themselves at 6-64, with Nandhalal Subramaniyam Sangaran and Mathieson King at the crease.

These two were able to give their side a target to bowl at, putting on an 110 run stand before King fell for 53.

Nathan Johnson then came to the crease, scoring 29 in a cameo off 28 balls.

However the star of the show was Sangaran with his 103 not out.

United will chase 236 for victory.

In division 2, Williamstown CYMS were also sent in to bat on Saturday afternoon against Tullamarine.

The CY’s opening stand lasted just 10 balls before Angus Groen was run out for two.

Bill Millar (41), Ben Johnson (36) and Nicholas Mullaly (35) top scored for the CYs.

Tullamarine are chasing 193 to win.

In division 3, Williamstown Imperials were also sent in to bat by Point Cook.

Again the bowling side was able to take both opening batsmen for not many.

Coming in at 3-40, skipper Andrew Hendry was able to steady the ship, making a handy half century off 79 balls.

The tail order wasn’t able to contribute in any significant way to the score, losing the last five wickets for just 42 runs.

Point Cook were set 174 for victory, and will start next week at 2-46.
