For migrants, adapting to Melbourne’s weather can be challenging and unexpected, which is why Bangladeshi woman Karisma Amjad is hosting a free morning tea and weather discussion session.

Together with Climate Action Maribyrnong’s Angela Ashley- Chiew, Ms Amjad hopes to foster a network and community of women who can discuss climate change and changing weather conditions.

“In Maribyrnong, 45 per cent of our residents are born overseas, so we hope that we can start this conversation for those who are migrants,” she said.

“I will be sharing my experiences of moving to Australia, and what a culture and weather shock it can be, especially in Melbourne.”

Ms Ashley- Chiew hopes that starting these conversations will help those with the change.

“If we can have these conversations, people can share their experiences and how they have dealt with these things. We also want to share helpful resources which are local and practical.”

The morning tea will be held on Friday, December 15, at the Braybrook Community Hub.
