NAB League

Western Jets Lou Lou Field and Sierra Grieves are among those named in the Vic Metro girls summer training squad. The squad will take one in two high-performance training camps over the summer months to further assist players in their preparation for the 2024 Coates Talent League season.

VPL

Fixtures for the Victorian Premier League competitions have been released. The VPL1 and 2 have replaced the National Premier League 2 and 3 competitions. The VPL1 will get underway on the weekend of February 9, while the VPL2 will start a month later. Altona City, which has been promoted to VPL2, will face the Boroondara-Carey Eagles in the opening round.

WRFL

Parkside has secured the signature of Jean-Luc Velissaris for the upcoming Western Region Football League division 1. Velissaris will play for the Magpies in between Victorian Football League commitments with the Northern Bullants, where he won the club best and fairest this and was named in the VFL team of the year.

Cricket

The wet weather again played havoc with the cricket on Saturday. The Victorian Turf and Victorian Sub-District and North West Metropolitan competitions were all called off on Saturday morning, with heavy rain on Friday and Saturday morning. All three competitions are scheduled for this Saturday, the final day of play before the Christmas break.

Netball

The Altona Falcons are through to the Victorian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association M-League premier men’s division grand final. The Falcons won their semi final 88-80 to secure the first spot in the grand final and the week off. The Falcons will either play the City Heat and the Netblacks in the grand final on December 20.
