Maribyrnong council has received a $2000 grant from the state government to fund its participation in five youth fest celebrations which will take place across the municipality.
Victorian Youth Fest is part of the annual state government initiative established in 2022 to replace the former Victorian Youth Week, aimed at supporting youth events and activities.
This year, Youth Fest 2024 will be held throughout September , offering a month of youth-led events and activities across Victoria, inner city and regionally.
Maribyrnong council chief executive Celia Haddock said council is pleased to receive the funding for the month-long celebration.
“The grant will go towards delivering activities such as Maribyrnong Stories, showcasing local young people on social media.
“The arts at the library event, big bang sports nights on September 13 and 6, the phoenix all ages live music event on September 8, a movie night on September 12 and the phoenix youth centre open day on September 20.
“We look forward to welcoming the community to these exciting events.”
The $2000 is part of a total $220,000 in grants, delivered to 110 successful recipients which include schools, local government and community organisations.
