Maribyrnong council is hosting a free online information session for potential candidates ahead of the council elections later this year.
Community members who aspire to influence Maribyrnong’s future direction and consider standing as candidates in this year’s council elections can join the live event.
Topics covered will include the workings of councils, the responsibilities of councillors and key considerations for those standing for election.
This session will also provide valuable insights into the role of local government and what to expect if elected to the Maribyrnong council.
The session will be held on July 31, from 6pm.
The council is also encouraging residents and ratepayers to enrol to vote for local council elections.
Eligible voters should check their enrolment status by 4pm on Wednesday, August 7.
Australian citizens who have recently turned 18 or changed their address can enrol or update their details on the VEC website.
