Altona City soccer player can look forward to playing extra time on three upgraded pitches and a new pavilion at HC Kim Reserve.
The work included a complete rebuild of pitch one and irrigation upgrades to pitches two and three, ensuring improved surface quality and consistency, safety, extra capacity and opportunities to boost women and girls’ participation.
The new pavilion is female-friendly and features six change rooms, umpire facilities, a first aid room, a divided multi-purpose social space and storage.
The state government invested $800,000 in the upgrade, including from the World Game Facilities fund and $300,000 from the Local Sports Infrastructure fund.
Hobsons Bay council contributed almost $5 million and Altona City Soccer Club contributed $100,000 for the upgrade.
Williamstown MP Melissa Horne said the pitch upgrades and new pavilion will ensure Altona City and other community members can ramp up training and development.
It also creates more opportunities for locals of all ages and abilities to participate in football, she said.
“Providing modern facilities our clubs can be proud of is an investment in our community sportspeople and ensures more people have the chance to lace up their boots and play the world game.”
