Supporting youngsters to navigate life

A new online platform designed to support young Victorians with essential life skills has been launched.

Developed in collaboration with young people and youth workers, YouthNav provides interactive and engaging guidance on various life topics for individuals aged 12 to 25.

Youth Minister Natalie Suleyman unveiled YouthNav, which has been created with a $750,000 investment from the state government.

The platform features interactive prompts and clickable information to help users navigate skills such as job searching, moving out of home, transportation, financial management, and civic engagement.

Feedback from over 160 young people aged 13 to 25 was integral to the platform’s development. Additionally, insights from financial counsellors and youth practitioners, including South East Community Links, helped shape its content.

YouthNav was co-designed with the Victorian Youth Congress, a group of 20 young people who ensure that youth perspectives are incorporated into state policies and decisions. The Youth Congress played a key role in testing the platform’s concept and prototype over a 12-month period, ensuring the resource effectively addresses young people’s needs and interests.

YouthNav is part of the state Government’s Our Promise, Your Future Youth Strategy 2022–2027, aimed at enhancing the health, wellbeing, and future opportunities for young Victorians.
