A fire which destroyed a vacant house in Footscray this morning, is being treated as suspicious.
Firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a property on Droop Street, just after 11am on Tuesday, October 22.
When fire crews arrived they found the brick veneer house fully ablaze and issued a community advice due to black smoke coming from the fire.
Three residents were evacuated from the house next door as a precaution and nearby properties were protected from threatening fire
spread.
The fire was under control in 30 minutes, however firefighters will remain at the scene into the afternoon.
The house suffered significant damage and part of the structure has collapsed.
The fire has been deemed suspicious and police are on scene investigating.
