Footscray Plaza: Coles unveils new supermarket in refurbished building

Coles will have 110 team members when it unveils its brand new flagship supermarket in the newly refurbished Footscray Plaza building.

Officially being opened on Wednesday, the bigger and better Coles supermarket will provide shoppers with a wider range and even better value.

Seventy of the store’s team members are new to Coles, while the remainder will come from the former Footscray supermarket and other Coles stores.

The former Footscray Plaza store closed in July, 2013, after almost 26 years in operation, allowing for the exciting redevelopment to take place.

The new store has 1000 new product lines, including international flavours such as Chinese, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, European, British, Middle Eastern and Indian.

A wide range of halal products will also be on offer across the meat and dairy departments.

Measuring almost 3300 square metres, the new Footscray Plaza store is larger than the previous store and is fitted with full LED lighting and dairy doors with upright refrigeration, which reduce both energy usage and costs.

Coles Footscray Plaza store manager Charlie Abboud said he was looking forward to unveiling the new store and welcoming local shoppers back to Coles.

“It’s been just over a year since we closed our doors and the team can’t wait to show locals how incredible this new store looks,” he said.

“We’re really excited to be a part of the new wave of Coles stores launching around the country and we look forward to providing shoppers with fantastic, value-for-money produce and grocery lines.”

Coles Footscray Plaza, in the Footscray Plaza Shopping Centre at 18 Albert Street, Footscray, is open from 7am-10pm seven days a week.
