Residents of a Spotswood apartment building were forced to evacuate when a fire broke out in the bedroom of one of the units late yesterday afternoon.
Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) crews responded to triple-0 calls reporting a fire in an apartment building, believed to be in the Union Square complex, and arrived to find residents already evacuating.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to attack the blaze which was deemed under control by 5.57pm on Tuesday, August 5.
Firefighters remained on scene for some time to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, while Ambulance Victoria paramedics were also present.
The unit suffered fire, smoke and water damage with the cause of the blaze to be investigated by FRV specialists.
