Libraries host science celebration

National Science Week is being celebrated across Hobsons Bay this week with free and fun activities at local libraries.

From space-themed story times to LEGO building sessions and thought-provoking science talks with a comedic twist, all tastes and interests will be catered for at Hobsons Bay libraries from August 11 to 16.

Hobsons Bay mayor Daria Kellander said the week-long science celebration was something every member of the community could enjoy.

“It’s great that we can engage with an occasion such as National Science Week to lay the groundwork for lifelong learning and literacy of science from the earliest years,” Cr Kellander said.

Altona Library kicked off National Science Week with a LEGO space challenge on Monday, August 11.

Star Weekly photographer Damjan Janevski was there to capture local kids and their parents joining in the fun.
