West Gate Freeway delays

Motorists using the West Gate Bridge over the weekend are being advised to plan for delays of up to 30 minutes due to lane and ramp closures between Williamstown Road and Millers Road.

From 11.59pm, Friday, September 12 to 10.30pm, Sunday, September 14, the West Gate Freeway outbound will be reduced to two lanes, 24-7 between Williamstown and Millers roads.

Williamstown Road outbound entry ramp to the freeway will also be closed during this time.

One lane will be closed on the West Gate Freeway inbound between Williamstown and Millers roads on Sunday.

From 10.30pm, Sunday, September 14 to 5am, Monday, September 15, there will be an overnight closure of West Gate Freeway outbound between Williamstown and Millers roads.

According to Victoria’s Big Build, the closures will allow crews to complete asphalting and line marking work on the express lanes between Williamstown Road and Millers Road as part of the final touches for the West Gate Tunnel project, which will open later this year.

Drivers are encouraged to avoid the West Gate Bridge if they can and seek an alternative route.
