Firearms seized

A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged with 14 offences after police seized more than a dozen firearms following search warrants in Braybrook, Sunshine North and Sunshine West.

Detectives executed the warrants on the morning of Friday 31 October at addresses on Ford Avenue in Sunshine North, Whitesides Avenue in Sunshine West and at a business on Ashley Street in Braybrook.

Investigators seized six firearms at the Sunshine North address as well as other items including three handguns, two adapted/homemade firearms, two silencers, knuckledusters, partially assembled firearms and firearms parts, and items associated with the manufacturing of firearms

North West Metro Regional Crime Detective Senior Sergeant Haydn Beale said illicit firearms have no place in the community.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to remove firearms from the wrong hands, take them off our streets and make them as difficult as possible to access and use”, Senior Sergeant Beale said.

The man was arrested at the Sunshine West address and will appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 31 October.
