Ambulance station opened

A new state-of-the-art ambulance station in Maidstone is officially opened.

Ambulance Services Minister Mary-Anne Thomas joined Footscray MP Katie Hall on 11 December to tour the new branch and celebrate its opening alongside local paramedics who serve their community every day.

The new purpose-built 24-hour branch is home to more than 30 paramedics and features modern, safe and fit-for-purpose facilities to support them as they respond to life-threatening emergencies.

Located on Hampstead Road, the new branch includes a four-bay ambulance garage, four rest and recline areas, training facilities, a fully equipped kitchen and improved security and car parking – giving paramedics the workspace they need to deliver timely care.

The branch is strategically located close to major roads, schools, shopping precincts and community facilities to improve response times for the rapidly growing region.

The new facility has also been designed with space to accommodate future growth as the needs of the Maribyrnong community evolve.

Ms Thomas said the new branch gives paramedics the facilities they deserve and supports them to keep delivering world-class emergency care to people across Melbourne’s inner west.

“We’re investing in modern, high-quality ambulance branches across the state so Victorians can have confidence that emergency care is available when it’s needed most.”

Ms Hall said the hardworking paramedics deserve safe, comfortable spaces to rest and recharge which the new Maidstone branch delivers exactly that.

The Maidstone station is part of the state’s ongoing investment in Ambulance Victoria infrastructure, funded through the Victorian Government’s Ambulance Victoria Development Program.
