Funding for library’s next chapter

Braybrook Library has received a $143,000 grant that will go towards a new infrastructure project.

Maribyrnong mayor Mohamed Semra said council welcomes the funding.

“[It] will allow us to reconfigure our fastest-growing branch at Braybrook and create a dedicated maker space that supports creativity and learning. The upgrade will also include a redesigned service desk to improve the customer experience and help our team work more efficiently,” Cr Semra said.

“These improvements align with our Libraries Strategic Plan 2026-30, which focuses on strengthening access, fostering connection and supporting lifelong learning. The enhanced spaces will give our community more opportunities to create, collaborate and engage with programs that reflect their interests and needs.”

The library was one of 18 to receive the state government grant in the latest round of funding.

The state government said the grants aim to support initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to local areas, and increase access to learning, participation and engagement with community libraries.

Local Government Minister Nick Staikos said libraries are at the heart of every community.

“… Which is why we’re proud to support these 18 local spaces to create lasting impact,” Mr Staikos said.

“Victorian libraries are more than just books and we are committed to providing our communities with safe, modern and inclusive spaces that they can be proud of.”
