Focus on transport future

Transport affects every part of daily life.

It shapes how we get to work and school, connect with friends and family, and enjoy our beautiful city.

That’s why it’s so important that our community has its say as we build a new 10-year transport strategy.

We’re currently looking for community feedback to shape the strategy, so it’s your opportunity to let us know things that are working well or suggest things we can look to improve, or advocate to other levels of government to improve.

Whether you walk, cycle, drive or rely on public transport, your feedback will help ensure we prioritise the right projects and advocate effectively for the improvements our city needs.

Our population is expected to grow to 105,000 by 2036, so it’s important we put the right measures in place now to cope with that growth in the future.

While we focus on our transport future, it’s also important to celebrate some recent significant transport successes.

Last year we saw the completion of the new bridge across Kororoit Creek at Racecourse Road, which has seen immediate positive results. The old road was prone to flooding and causing traffic issues, but the new bridge has done a great job resolving this issue.

And just recently the heritage-listed 1880s bluestone bridge in Brooklyn was renewed, with structural repairs, graffiti removal and improved lighting.

I have a passion for maintaining the history of our city, so it’s fantastic to see this historic bridge given a new lease on life.

The bridge crosses over Kororoit Creek on the main road link to Geelong and creates a welcoming gateway to Hobsons Bay.

And while we look to our transport future, it’s important we still address issues today. So, if you come across potholes or places of concern, jump on the free Snap Send Solve app to let us know so we can take a look, to continue to make our city as easy to get around as possible.
