Premier Jacinta Allan has launched a new Chinese Community Hall Hire program to make it easier to hire safe and accessible venues for events.
With venue hire costs rising, the program will help groups stay connected without added financial pressure, the state government said.
Chinese community organisations can apply for grants of up to $40,000 to deliver activities, workshops and cultural celebrations.
The state government said these activities must support Victoria’s Chinese communities to celebrate and share their history and traditions; build Chinese community connections, capacity and networks to participate in society; and help Chinese communities to access social and cultural opportunities.
Ms Allan welcomed the new program.
“Victoria’s Chinese community is a vital part of our story and we’re proud to help make it easier for groups to host events and connect,” she said.
Applications are now open and will close on 30 March.
