Art exhibition

Maidstone artist Judith Leuenberger will display her artworks at the Louis Joel Arts and Community Centre in Altona next month. Leuenberger’s exhibition, Landscapes of Light, will have 50 drawings and paintings of landscapes. The exhibition runs until August 10.

Recycle your bike

Footscray Rotary Club is seeking old or unused bicycles to restore for new arrivals and refugees. The Footscray Community Bike Shed at Mills Close, Footscray is open 11am-3pm on Saturdays to allow people to work on bikes and repair them for new users. Volunteer bike mechanics are sought as well as others to help around the shed.

School reunion

Past and present Kingsville Primary School students, staff and parents are invited to a reunion on Saturday, August 16 to celebrate 95 years of education. The school will be open from 10am-5pm with memorabilia displays and tours of the school. Anyone with old photos and other items of interest related to the school are asked to make copies and bring them on the day.

Farmers Market

Find artisan breads, meat, preserves, fruit and vegetables, plants and cakes at Altona Primary School’s farmers market from 9am-1pm on August 16. The market is at 109 Blyth Street, Altona.

Mini chefs

Cooking workshops for young chefs begin next month at Maribyrnong Community Centre. They are suitable for children aged 6-12 and will run from August 29 to September 10. Bookings essential.

Budding musicians aged 10-15 can work with acclaimed musician and producer Robin Waters and write their own songs. The special workshop is part of Footscray Community Arts Centre’s term 3 learning and development program presented from August 6.

Laverton Community Education Centre is holding classes in how to use an iPad, computers for over 40s, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and the internet. Courses are also available for Certificate III in Aged Care and Home and Community Care. Spaces are limited and bookings required.
