80s flashback

An Absolutely 80s Show – featuring Brian Mannix of Uncanny X Men, Scott Carne of Kids in the Kitchen and Dale Ryder of Boom Crash Opera – will be at Williamstown’s Customs House Hotel on Friday, August 15. Tickets cost $55 for dinner and the show from 7.30pm, and $35 for the show only.

Friends of Williamstown and Newport Libraries will hold a book sale on Saturday, August 16, from 10am-12.30pm at Williamstown library.

School reunion

Past and present Kingsville Primary School students, staff and parents are invited to a reunion to celebrate 95 years of education on Saturday, August 16. The school will be open from 10am-5pm with displays of memorabilia and tours. Speeches will be made from 4pm. Anyone with old photographs and other items of interest related to the school – such as certificates, work books or newspaper cuttings – is asked to make copies and bring them.

Williamstown Community and Education Centre hold its 40th anniversary celebration on Friday, August 15, from 2–3.30pm. Past and present centre users, students, childcare families and staff are invited, with afternoon tea and entertainment provided.

Laverton Community Education Centre is holding classes in learning to use an iPad and computers for over 40s, with Word, Excel, Powerpoint and internet components. Courses also available for certificate III in aged care and home and community care.

Older motorists can learn more about the effects of medications on driving and get a free roadworthy check of their cars at Roadsafe Westgate’s next senior driver seminar on Saturday, August 23. The free event is at Hobsons Bay Civic Centre in Altona from 9.45am-2.30pm.

Discover handmade clothes, candles and more at the Cheeky Monkeys Market in Williamstown on August 31. Children’s entertainment will include rides, face- painting and an animal farm. The market is from 10am-2pm at Seaworks, 82 Nelson Place, Williamstown.
