Cops probe fatal crash

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of a three-car crash in Tarneit last week that killed one man and left another with serious injuries.

A police spokeswoman said the cause of the August 20 collision was still unknown and being investigated by the major collision investigation unit.

A 39-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was killed in the accident.

It is believed he suffered serious head, leg and pelvis injuries.

Police said the collision happened on Derrimut Road, just north of Dohertys Road, about 6am.

The collision resulted in one car coming to rest on top of another.

Werribee CFA’s road rescue team was called on to help free a Truganina man, 43, who was trapped in his car for more than an hour.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the man suffered serious injuries to his
legs and was airlifted to The Alfred hospital.

A third man, a 63-year-old from Hoppers Crossing, was treated by paramedics at the scene but escaped serious injury.

The crash closed Derrimut Road between Boundary and Dohertys roads until late morning.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on
1800 333 000.
