A woman died in an early-morning crash in Laverton North on Friday.
Police are investigating the smash that happened about 4.40am.
Senior Constable Adam West said police believed the driver of a Ford Falcon travelling north along Fitzgerald Road lost control of his car, which left the road before hitting a tree.
“A female passenger, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene,” Senior Constable West said.
The car’s driver, a man believed to be in his 20s, was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with serious back injuries.
