Altona RSL bingo devotee Nell King will hit the big 100 on Sunday.
Ms King had an early birthday celebration at the club on Tuesday when members threw her a surprise party.
Family has brought a “great degree of fulfilment and pleasure” to Ms King, who has two children, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Daughter Beverley Anthony said her mother always enjoyed a challenge and had accomplished a lot apart from raising a family.
She said her mother’s message to others would be: “Always keep your door open in welcome, give a smile and kind word to others, and enjoy the pleasure you receive and give in that sharing.”
